Show & Tell #33 - Braces Bunch Edition

I was going to do a Show & Tell about what I was doing one year ago this week...

But I got a wonderful surprise in my snail mail box today, and I had to share.

This is from JJ, founder of the Braces Bunch, which is celebrating 2 years of supportive friendship.

I have never met Janel, but in the 2 years that we have corresponded (via e-mail, blog posts, and snail mail), I have felt a kinship with her. And I was totally honored that she sent me this.

What is it?

I have decided in celebration of Willow's first birthday this Friday, I am assembling a time capsule. In it, amongst other things--including print outs of my blog from the time I was doing her IVF cycle--will be this letter from Janel. I do not know if ten years from now (when Willow will open this capsule) I will still be in contact with JJ. I hope that I will. But, I want Willow to know that during the dark times preceding her conception, and during the happy times when she was born--Janel and the Braces Bunch were there to support me.

That is so cool. I hope one day I get to do the same...

I posted a snail mail show and tell too! There's just something special about snail mail...and fellow bloggers for that matter.

My kids will have to hire a rental truck to get their 'capsuls' out of here! They will have 18 scrapbooks by the time they leave for college!!

Awesome idea - she'll love it and so will you.

I love the time capsule idea. I may have to copy that when we celebrate the one year anniversary of our son coming home.

Hi ... Just popping in from SQSPJ ... Thought to mention that I've heard of sites that will produce a custom bound book of your blog for you.

I just did a quick, shallow search for custom bookmaker links and found these:

http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6349010

http://transientbooks.com/

http://myhandboundbooks.blogspot.com/

I know there are other, possibly reasonably affordable (if less arty) businesses that do this service.

The first time I heard this idea, I thought it was brilliant. So many bloggers doing such beautiful work that deserves to be honored and preserved ... turned into an heirloom, even. What a great thing to make it into a tangible, piece ... or better yet ... a unique art piece in itself!!
