Now its August -- Cape Cod Recap and The Story So Far...

It was a relaxing time on Cape Cod, in Hyannis.  And when I say relaxing---I mean, everyone relaxed, but we did not do that much.  (Which is sometimes not so relaxing for me).

We did the traditional going to Friendly's on the way to Cape Cod....and going over the bridge...Willow took some of those pictures...(I was driving)...we took two cars like we have been doing for the last few years.  Willow and Michael anticipate having some mom/daughter; father/son time.  Willow made sure to keep the tunes going (she's the car DJ) and we had a great time!

At Friendly's - a shark drink!

Brad and Michael had a LOOONG drive, as they dropped the guinea pigs and bearded dragon off at a pet sitters in Andover....and Michael forgot the heat lamps for Baragon...so they had to go BACK home and pick that up and go BACK to the pet sitters---and then make the 2 hour drive to Hyannis...so...

We made sure to get take out seafood that evening...(Yum!)

One of the big things I loved about this place was it had a private beach you could walk to, and it had a swimming pool.   I walked to the beach almost every day, and at the very least looked at the water and boats.  (It was right by the Yacht Club...so that was..interesting...)

Willow, of course, was on the hunt for LOBSTER!

And Chewy and I were so ready for a Red Barn pizza!!

I was even able to convince everyone to play mini-golf at the Red Barn!

And later - Ben & Jerry's of course!

I made sure I got a lot of swimming on my own in the pool, and the kids (who said they wanted a place that had a swimming pool) each went into the pool once...

We saw the new Superman movie the second day we were there, and that was an experience that stayed with us for the week, as we all enjoyed it and talked about it.

Some years vacation is a lot of enjoying different things and going places, some years its just enjoying good food and good times with just your family.  While I was more in the mood to DO things, I listened to my family--and especially when Chewy said he was feeling relaxed for the first time in a long time--I listened.   Chewy got to relax, Michael got to play board games and watch movies and Willow got to enjoy seafood and time with and without her family!

So, it was not "my type" of vacation, I had to re-imagine the vacation for what it was---time with my family in a beautiful place where we have great memories and enjoy making more!

Until next year---Bye Cape Cod!

More Pictures!

The place we were staying at had a roof top balcony--and I enjoyed some time on my own reading!

Went to the Maritime museum--that was fun!

MUDSLIDES (Willow's was non-alcoholic)

Got some beach time!

A place we went to last year -- we HAD to go back to:

Another day -- at Provincetown -- Another Mudslide!

At the Lobster Pot -- both kids got LOBSTAHs!

I got lobster too--but the lazy type!

The private beach at Provincetown---I went by myself...Michael and Willow were too entranced by the owner's puppy dogs!

And then...all too soon, it was breakfast before the drive home!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, now it is August 17th--and the summer is starting to end.  Michael has his summer classes to finish at the end of August, and then he is done with school (forever?)  He will start the job hunt, and we will keep nudging him toward adulthood.

As he watches Wizard of Oz with Baragon..

Willow has to start virtual school on the 26th.  I am proud of how far mentally and emotionally she has come, but it is definitely time to push the envelope a little more and get more socially active with maybe a club through school.  She did have Equine Therapy this summer, which she loved...

Chewy is worried about the policies at work regarding going into the office, and I am worried about what my position/status is with my work (its kinda nebulous).

BUT -- those are FALL worries, right?!

So, until then, we are trying to enjoy what is left of the summer...
